2017

In 2017, I was tasked with animating the logo for RUNE II, an online RPG by Human Head Studios, a privately owned independent studio in Madison, WI. The logo was designed by their Lead Artist, which I took into Adobe After Effects to set aflame and then digitally freeze it over per the game’s central theme of Norse mythology.

Delivering the Final Product

After a handful of excitingly challenging notes and drafts, we were finally able to get to a refined title graphic we could both be proud of. By the end of the project, I delivered a 4K Resolution Title Card for their YouTube webisodes called the Rune Recap. This also came with additional assets like the Vegvesir Counter and the Lower Thirds animations for team names.

Large Format Marketing Displays

Another small project was to put the artwork provided by the studio into some After Effects templates. It would then be displayed on a sixty-foot-wide video wall inside of a gaming conference venue and a seventy-foot-tall marquee on the outside.

Collaborate

All original logo/concept artwork was created by the Lead Artist at Human Head Studios, which was passed to me for animation and formatting.

Execute

Like any project, I had a deadline that had to be met, and it was a tight one. Workflow efficiency and seasoned skill were my best friends here, which got the job done.

Adapt

This project challenged me to work in formats I had never used before, which led to me exporting files that would be displayed on a 70ft LCD wall.

Takeaway

This project helped me grow, as my notes came from an Art Director overseeing motion graphics. His critiques opened my eyes to new aesthetic qualities and principles of animation.
